One Market Restaurant Reviews
On a recent visit I was really disappointed in the service. The waitress knew very little about the wine list and was not willing to get any assistance due to the Sommelier being on vacation. The food arrived on time and was very good but overall, service was curt and hardly gracious. They seem to take the expense account for granted and a less interested in those who care about serious food and wine.
Was here several years ago on an expense account. Two of us visited one night & we returned with a bigger crowd on our only other 'open' night. It was that good, that we went back to the same place! Excellent fresh food wonderfully prepared. Open setting with light wood, so not as romantic as a cozy place, but a wonderful place to go.
It pains me to say that this was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Prepared to spend upwards of $400 for a good boutique wine and an Ogden dinner, my wine-collector friend from New York and I visited One Market with a 7:30 reservation last Friday evening. After a half-hour wait in the very noisy TGIF bar, we were shown by the brusque host to possibly the worst table in the house, between 3 tables of raucous teenagers and adjacent to the enormous ice-dispensing sink where frenzied waitpersons and busboys jostled our chairs for space and spilled ice . There were many tables ready and vacant, and we asked to be moved, to no avail. After an endless halfhour, a waiter (not ours) took pity upon us and volunteered to move us into the dining area (`I'd have walked if anyone sat me at this table`, he confided kindly) . The only drawback to this table was a sodden teenager stretched out on the banquette, his feet intruding to our table, loudly lamenting to his pal that he'd gotten found out and bounced out of college. (Alas, he bounced to One Market) The `good` empty tables remained empty throughout our entire stay of 3 hours.I'm afraid even the good, though exorbitantly overpriced, wine list and our one attentive waitperson does not make up for the shoddy service and atrocious clientele. The food, which one would have expected to be redeeming, was merely average. What a shame.
wow, what an amazing restaurant. I just had the best meal of my life. I started with an amazing salad of shaved foie gras and a unique and delicious fried lobster. For dessert we had a chocolate crunch cake. OMG, what a meal. Service was second to none, gracious and knowledgeable. I'll be back, maybe tomorrow!!

Feeling fancy? Mark Dommen is one of the best, but least hyped, chefs in the Bay Area. His six-course tasting menu ($79) is a bargain for the quality. Try the chocolate toffee almond crunch cake here.

Sliders are delicious, stay away from that Bratwurst, if you are used to a real German Bratwurst! Sauerkraut was good though.....

Almost everything on the menu is great. The one disappointment is the cauliflower side, which was insipid.

Very yummy and cooked to perfection. The kitchen looks like an assembly line and is open for everyone to see. Great food. Great for lunch meetings. There's a reason why it has a Michelin star.

Swank ambiance and personalized customer service. Delish cuisine, especially the salmon-topped melon squares and the bacon-wrapped pork loin atop creamed spinach and a baked apple slice.

Friendly but uneven service: spotty tablecloth, stained napkin, obtrusive water filling, but excellent food. Try the tangerine pavlova for dessert.
