Is It Any Good on Aug 18, 2013
It’s almost like the Hungry Cat wants to stay below the radar. If you didn’t already know where it was, you’d walk right past it, and never give it a second’s thought. But open that door, and you enter a warm, albeit crowded little joint full of good cookin’...

I had the tempura fish tacos, which were absolutely exquisite! Really fresh and super tasty :)

Love this place!

A great little spot tucked away on Vine. Romantic and is convenient for couples. Their Maine lobster roll and pub burger are classics. Amazing cocktails too, greyhound proper takes my heart
by May C
Delicious fresh cocktails and a wonderful lobster roll. The raw bar is open late... Perfect for pre- or post-show meal
by Andrew G.
Not bad; not worth the $30 for a lobster roll. It was worth trying since it is on my route for work & easier than tracking down the Lobsta Truck. I'll track down the truck more often. Fries are good
by Robert M.
The peel and eat shrimp are my favorite thing from the raw bar. Highly recommend the mussels as well. Chocolate bread pudding is the dessert to go for.

Oysters! Why have 6 when you can have 12!
by Renata K.
If caviar is your thing, get the golden trout ($40 for an ounce, $20 for a half ounce), hackleback ($54 for an ounce, $27 for a half ounce), white sturgeon ($110 for an ounce, $55 for a half ounce).
by Tasting Table
If oysters are calling, grab a seat at the raw bar for front and center views. Order a plate ($18 for a half dozen, $36 for a dozen) or, better yet, come on Mondays for half-priced oysters.
by Tasting Table
If you prize your sanity, try never to bring up the subject of lobster rolls with a New England native.
by LA Weekly
Hungry Cat's cocktails are as assured as the langoustines and sea urchin from the raw bar, whose first wild salmon and halibut of the season tends to show up before it makes it anywhere else.
by Los Angeles Times
Don't miss the bread pudding! It has a layer of dark chocolate at the base.
by Karl H.
The Hungry Cat is rotating its soft-shell crab with bacon-wrappers w/ cornbread, squash, cherry tomatoes, and romesco sauce, or maybe crusty crustaceans w/ ramp pasta, maitake ‘shrooms, and pancetta.
by Thrillist
You'll love the grilled octopus w/ pea tendrils.
by Amadeu Porto
Tried lobster roll. Fries is overcooked and oily, the bun in lobster sandwich is dry and lobster is mixed with parsley which is a questionable pair. Strictly not recommended
by Dmitry Peshnev-Podolskiy
Just don't order the cat. Everything else is delicious!

Everything!
by Jeremy N.
I like the ambiance, food a little salty, need better ventilation inside. Service was good tho!
by Alain d.
Great place! Highly recommend the skate.
by Michael K.
Crab cake Benedict and squash soup with stuffed squid are sooooo good. You won't be disappointed.
by Kim Y.
Overpriced, weak drinks, and poor service. Won't be back.
by Edgar S.
Very pricey and the sea bass is just ok and the pug hamburger the blue cheese overpowers the flavor of the meat
by Rosana
Fresh seafood, nice, friendly ambience
by Nick B.
Though the specialty here is seafood, Chef Lenz says the variations on surf and turf are among his favorites, such as the house-made chorizo and braised clams, or scallops and sweetbreads.

Hungry Cat is my new hidden gem in LA. The BlueCrab was phenomenal and the drinks could be a tad but stiffer. Overall definitely worth trying.
by Brooke C.
It's almost a joke how XL this burger is, which makes it funny that the HQ Niman Ranch beef's also topped with avocado, house-smoked bacon, and Danish bleu cheese.
by Thrillist
Best lobster roll evah! Basil gimlet or Pimlico amazing
by Molly S.
Incredible food and you pay for every tasty morsel.
by Steve K.
raw oysters! $17 for 6 and $32 for a dozen...no problem to mix and match.
by lindsay v.
The first rule of the kitchen seems to be: Don't mess too much with the fish. That means the Santa Barbara sea urchin isn't a source of intriguing richness, it's a sea urchin.
by Los Angeles Times
get the pug burger!
by Gloria C.
Lucky Peach managing editor Rachel Khong: "The pug burger [Ed: yes, "pug," not "pub"] is a California-y tower of thin bun, fat patty, avocado, bacon, red onion, bleu cheese, and more."

Hungry Cat is our goto restaurant. It never disappoints.
by Josh R.
Best drinks in town, made by the best bartender. Ask for Brian.
by Stacey K.
Über boozy dessert: housemade butterscotch liqueur made w/ Sailor Jerry rum, butter, sugar.
by Caroline O.
Got a food baby after the meal? Order the Ticino Digestivo: cynar, punt e mes, Satsumas, Ango, orange bitters
by Caroline O.
Menu rotates. Fear not the adventurous choice as it's always surprisingly better than what you expect. Drinks: greyhound, pimlico, anything with chiles.
by Peter J.
Amazing! Everything I have here is just awesome.

by Minho K.
The crab cakes benedict is freaking amazing. Don't forget a greyhound proper or a luke's lemonade
by Lina B.
Loved it. We ate outside on the patio, shaded and breezy. The mussels were great (with lamb bacon) and the oysters superb. Wait staff is excellent. I'm told the lobster pasta is fantastic.
by Diana A.
The Pug Burger is delicious and they have fantastic cocktails. The Greyhound is well worth the trip.
by Jen Pollack B.
The cocktails are light, refreshing and deceptively dangerously strong :)
by JNET H.
Bomb Seafood. Pricey. Great cheese plate. Great wines. Good date spot, right across the street from Arclight
by Emerald T.

Hungry Cat is a wonderfully convivial atmosphere with great service. The cocktails are very good and the grouper dish is excellent! A modern and dimly lit setting providing a perfect mise en scene.

Good cocktails. Happy hour from 12(!) - 6pm. 1/2 price drinks and beers, excluding wine. Generous fries. Sit outside, much better.
by Rachel R.
LA was in desperate need of a casual seafood hotspot, and got one in this hip venue. Locals love it for the atmosphere and seriously good fare. But beware - the lobster rolls are said to be addictive!
by Epicurious
