I just love this place. What more do you want me to say. My favorite!
by mehrig
Delicious French food with fresh California ingredients. Old-school service. Great for special occasions.
by Linda L
Amazing food and experience. Chefs tasting menu, just do it!
by Dillon
Chefs tasting menu was fantastic as was the service and ambiance! And if you buy a bottle (or half bottle) from their wine list they wave the $50 corkage fee!
by Emily L
A Michelin star doesn't lie. Exquisite French dining in a very luxurious environment.
by Simon C.
So happy to have foie Gras back
by Cassandra Light
Excellent French cuisine. Get the most expensive tasting menu -- not that much more $ for a MUCH better experience.
by Amy Y
3 course menu is what you need for a great meal anything else and it's called gluttony
by Frank Garcia
Sit near the window for a quieter dining experience

Head to the Green Room at this French classic for date night tonight. The Provençal decor and attentive staff add to the charm of this delightfully haute but not at all haughty establishment.
by Time Out San Francisco
Gary Rulli, chef of Emporio Rulli, eats here on his nights off. He loves the Huckleberry Baked Alaska.

Chef Roland Passot is an old friend of mine. He has been serving “la vraie cuisine française” for 25 years in SF. When I’m in town I stop in for delicious dishes such as the rôti of quail and squab.
by Daniel Boulud
Tasting menu was amazing and love how flexible they are with swapping dishes. One of the best meals you'll have in SF (but you'll pay for it)
by David Z.
High-end decadence. Unintimidating, cozy, French. One of the city’s best fine-dining experiences without the stereotypical stuffiness
by Brad G.
Look for courses like pig‘s feet, sweetbreads, lobster terrine, or cheese soufflé with sorbet, bacon and sesame tuile. – Green Guide Editor

Love their Papa's pilar cocktails #rum #papaspilar #rumcocktails @papaspilar #sf #nightlife

Get the wagyu beef and Pigs feet app. Don't splurge on the truffle for anything. Not worth it! Wine is good. Escargot is disappointing so is risotto.
by Kristi H.
The chef's menu with the wine paring is hard to beat. I mourn the loss of the foie gras though.
by Steve S.
The reviews don't lie - this is THE best restaurant in SF. From lobster to duck to quail to souffles, the dishes are fantastic, both in taste and presentation. And chef pops in a few dishes for free!
by Amy M.
The Ahi Tartare is to die for, love the Papa's Pilar Rum had a great cocktail called Deep and Refreshing
by Jessica C.
Salmon lollipops!!
by Jessica C.
Great drinks and nice servers, but wish they served food later and didn't rush us out at 1:30am.
by Nick A.

One of the best meals I've had in SF.

The best French restaurant ever!
by Peggy C.
Industry types pop in to this richly decorated Russian Hill hideaway for table-service, well-done cocktails and gussied up bar bites, like truffled popcorn.

Try the Pâté Platter
by Maddie G.
In The tasting menu dishes are large portions, lots of food. there should be a men's room and a women

Get the "secret appetizer". Trust me on this one.

Ask to be seated in the front dining room. The back room is dark, old, stuffy and gloomy.
by Andy W.
Truffle popcorn! Yum!
by Natasha
Inventive French food with fantastic service. Customize a 3, 4, or 5-course menu. Check out Chef Michael Hung on Kitchit at https://kitchit.com/profiles/chefs/michael-hung

Get the truffled popcorn!

Lounge drinks were a disappointment (2 of 4 petals via Fondu)
by James M.
So professional and so amateur. Perfect service. Terrible play list. Food was just fair. Promised more than delivered. Quince is the same price range with superior experience. I'd come back though.
by Jose M.
One Michelin star.
by La Dolce Vita
This unintimidating, cozy French restaurant is one of the city’s best dining experiences. Chef Roland Passot is in the kitchen every night. As recommended by Travel Channel host, Anthony Bourdain.

Popcorn with fresh truffles grated on top...'Nuff said!
by Liz L.
the lounge is a great place to try the menu if you don't have reservations at the main restaurant. the Pate app will leave you satisfied

Restaurant good. Lounge bar bad.

The cocktails are really poor. Unmixed and poor combinations

Very good restaurant - expensive but worth the price
by Eliane F.
We walked in too early before they opened, cuz the door was open and they were very rude to us! We just wanted to try the 4square special! NEVER coming back!!
by Melly S.
3 courses would be perfect (we had 5 on first visit), esp as it comes with amuse bouches. Foie gras is a must! And I am not sharing, non!

Just the tip.
by Andrei P.
Four course is plenty. You don't need meat and shellfish (or do you?) Portions not nearly as monstrous as advertised, but ideal. Back room is decidely less convivial than front, but intimate, relaxed.
by Shona S.
Just ask for my favorite dish -it's not on the menu and if your nice they will make it :) but it will cost you $$$
by Sherri Z.
Great French wine selection

Foie gras is enough for 2 people. Although I would order one portion for myself it's so good.
by Linda D.
Try one of Shayna's "Mystery" wines on the bottle list. Awesome values.
by Paige G.
Ask the lovely bar maiden Anessa to make you a "Bell". Muddled red bell pepper with St Germain, Gin, lemon and crushed ice. It's a revelation!
by Paige G.
A 3-course is the way to go. The chef sends out so many little compliments throughout the meal, so there's no shortage of diversity. try the FoiGras for an app. the lamb and rabbit-also amazing
by Jess C.
Best cocktails, paired with the delicious truffle popcorn!
by Kevin M.
Truffle popcorn is a must!
